We’re making progress!
We have a driveway! The progress on these projects is hard to envision from pictures and descriptions but it’s happening. It will be September before we get to see the footprint that has been cleared. In the meantime, it just feels good to have progressed toward the vision.
In the midst of overseeing the work that’s being done on the property for us, our friends procured my FAVORITE ice cream. This stuff is amazing but can’t be bought at home. (Although Blue Bell will kindly ship you 4 gallons of your choice for the low, low price of $129.00!) Our ice cream angels have stocked their freezer for our visit in September and this is just one more reason I can’t wait to get back.
Projects! Decorating and Gardening
This past week or so has been full of decorating and gardening. The decorating all started with a rug. Why does one simple, necessary change always seem to snowball into a whole new look? I don’t know but it never fails. I’m pleased with how it turned out. I love the colors, it feels cozy, and we have more seating now.
We finished decorating the man cave and outfitted it with a comfy sofa. This space has become our favorite movie-watching place. It’s cool, dark, and quiet, just like man cave should be.
Another weekend project was deck furniture. The wind blows CONSTANTLY here so we literally have to tie things down to keep them from ending up in the south 40! We’re going into a stretch of nice weather, without chances for storms, so I put out our furniture in preparation for some much-needed porch sittin’ time.
And finally, our container gardens are growing nicely due to all the rain. I can’t wait for these beautiful cherry tomatoes to ripen. They’re bound for this delicious Herbed Tomato and Roasted Garlic Tart from Smitten Kitchen.
So, all the projects are done for now. There’s a pot roast in the oven. And we’re enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon. Seems pretty perfect to me!
